Spring is finally here and my kids and I have been busy working on our garden.  I hope that everyone got their peas into the ground on St. Patrick's Day.  We tilled and planted seeds 2 weeks ago and now our seeing little sprouts come out !  I've never seen my kids so excited to eat sugar snap peas !!

Spring also means a lot of fun holidays, parties that will be upon us.  Those of you who celebrate Easter may be thinking about filling baskets with jelly beans and chocolate bunnies.  I host a neighborhood egg hunt and have for the last couple of years put some change in the plastic eggs instead of candy.  The kids go crazy to collect as many pennies, nickels and dimes they can find.  The golden egg holds a $1 bill !!  I spend just as much as I would if I bought candy to fill the eggs and the kids get to fill thier piggy banks.  Celebrations can be fun without the sugar high !! 

Be creative and find some other ways to start non food related traditions this spring/summer !!   Also, get your garden going - you will be surprised how willing kids are to try new veggies if they had a hand in growing them.
